What is PaintPDF's report card generator?

PaintPDF's report card generator turns a term's results into a printable A4 report card: student, grade and teacher details, a subjects table with grades and comments, an attendance and effort summary, teacher comments and signature lines. Edit it by chatting. Use fictional data only; free to start, no watermark.

Everything a report card needs

A report card reports a term: grades, a short comment per subject, and a teacher's summary. The layout keeps the record and the remarks together.

Where they usually go wrong

It has to look like you do this for a living.

A Word file shows the seams: floating tables, mismatched type, spacing you fixed twice.

Template sites make you retype the job into their form.

Twelve fields before you see a page, and the result still looks like their template.

One change and the layout falls apart.

Move a line and the table, the headings, and the footer all need re-fixing.

  • Student, grade, teacher and term at the top
  • A subjects table with a grade and a comment per subject
  • An attendance and effort summary
  • Teacher comments and signature lines

What each field is for

The fields a parent reads first:

Subject

The area reported on, in the school's usual names

Comments

One specific line per subject, not a repeated phrase

Attendance

Days present, so context is on the page

Teacher comments

Two or three sentences on progress and what is next

How it works

  1. Describe it

Type what you need in plain language: the client, the line items, the tone. Attach a file if you have one.

  2. Refine by chatting

The agent builds the document with real tables and headings, and you change anything just by asking. A live A4 preview updates as it works.

  3. Download the PDF

Export a print-ready A4 PDF. No watermark on the free plan, and unlimited exports.

You type it, it sets it

Every part of the document is something you can ask for in a sentence. This is a real edit, made on the example above.

One more subject in the table, with its grade and comment.

Questions, answered

Report card or progress report?

A report card is the formal end-of-term record; a progress report is the shorter update in between. The same layout serves both: for a progress report, use fewer subjects and a shorter comment, and keep the attendance line.

How do I create a report card?

Describe the student, the subjects and the grades, and the agent lays out a printable A4 report card with a grades table, comments, an attendance line and signature blocks. Use fictional data only and check the grades before printing.

Is this a student records system?

No. It generates a printable card from what you type. It does not store or manage student records, and you should not enter real pupil information; use your school's own records process.

Can I change the subjects?

Yes. Ask the agent to add, remove or rename a subject, and the grades table updates in place. Keep the names the school already uses.

Can I use it for a progress report?

Yes. Use fewer subjects and shorter comments for an interim report, and keep the attendance and teacher-comment sections. The layout does not change, only the amount of detail.

Is there a free report card template?

Yes. The demo above is a worked report card, and the same layout acts as a blank template: describe the subjects and grades and the agent fills the grades table, comments and attendance line. Use fictional student data only.

Is it free?

Free to start, no watermark, unlimited exports, around 20 PDFs a month on the free plan.

A report card template and format

The layout is a printable report card template: a subject and grade table, a comment per subject, an attendance line and signature blocks. Use it as a blank format to complete by hand, or fill the rows with your own marks (fictional data only).

  • A report card template with a subject, grade and comment per row
  • A primary or high-school format that fits grades and comments
  • A printable report card form with teacher and guardian signature lines
Keep student data out of the studio

Enter fictional names and grades, or leave the fields blank and complete the printed card by hand. Studio documents and chat are saved to your account, so do not type real pupil information. Handle completed cards through your school's own records process.

Build a report card from your marks

Describe the student, the subjects and the grades, and keep the comments specific. Check the grades and the attendance figure before you print.

  • Prompt: Create an A4 report card for one student. Include the student, grade and teacher details, a subjects table with a grade and a short comment per subject, an attendance and effort summary, teacher comments, and teacher / guardian signature lines. Use fictional data only and mark anything I have not given.
  • Check the grades and the attendance figure, and make each subject comment specific to that subject.
  • Do not enter real pupil data, and follow your school's own reporting and data-protection process.
How long does it take to build the report card?

One short chat: describe what you need, check the live preview, download the PDF. You can keep changing it after that.

Can I bring a document I already have?

Yes. Attach up to four files at a time: images up to 5 MB, PDFs up to 10 MB, or text files up to 200 KB (.txt, .md, .csv, .json). For Word (.docx, not .doc), PDF, Markdown, HTML or LaTeX documents up to 10 MB each, choose ‘Import a document’ from the studio’s attachment menu. The agent rebuilds imports as editable blocks; original formatting may change.

Put the term on one page

  • Grades and comments by subject.
  • Attendance, effort, and a teacher note.
