What is PaintPDF's lesson plan generator?

PaintPDF's lesson plan generator turns a lesson idea into a printable A4 plan: the subject, grade and duration, learning objectives, a staged table with a time and activity for each stage, the materials to prepare, and how the learning will be assessed. Edit it by chatting. Free to start, no watermark.

Everything a lesson plan needs

A lesson plan is a plan for a fixed block of time, so the layout gives the lesson a shape: objectives, stages with timings, materials, and a way to check the learning.

Where they usually go wrong

It has to look like you do this for a living.

A Word file shows the seams: floating tables, mismatched type, spacing you fixed twice.

Template sites make you retype the job into their form.

Twelve fields before you see a page, and the result still looks like their template.

One change and the layout falls apart.

Move a line and the table, the headings, and the footer all need re-fixing.

  • The subject, grade and how long the lesson runs
  • Learning objectives, written as what the learner will be able to do
  • A staged plan: what happens, in order, with a time for each stage
  • Materials, and how you will check the learning

What each field is for

The fields a lesson plan is checked against:

Objectives

The outcomes, not the activities

Stages

Starter, teach, practice, plenary, with a time for each

Materials

What to prepare, so nothing is missing at the door

Assessment

How you will know the objectives were met

How it works

  1. Describe it

Type what you need in plain language: the client, the line items, the tone. Attach a file if you have one.

  2. Refine by chatting

The agent builds the document with real tables and headings, and you change anything just by asking. A live A4 preview updates as it works.

  3. Download the PDF

Export a print-ready A4 PDF. No watermark on the free plan, and unlimited exports.

You type it, it sets it

Every part of the document is something you can ask for in a sentence. This is a real edit, made on the example above.

One more row in the stages table, with its time and activity.

Questions, answered

Lesson plan or scheme of work?

A lesson plan covers one session; a scheme of work covers a term or a unit. Use a lesson plan for the class in front of you, and a longer document when you are mapping a unit. This layout is the single session.

How do I write a lesson plan?

Describe the lesson, the time you have and the objectives, and the agent lays out a printable A4 plan with a staged timetable, materials and assessment. Edit any stage by chatting.

Can I reuse it for another class?

Yes. Keep the layout and change the class, the timings and the examples; a plan for the same lesson in a different class is the same structure with fresh content.

Does it include timings?

The stages table has a time column, so each stage is time-boxed and the total can be checked against the lesson length.

Is it free?

Free to start, no watermark, unlimited exports, around 20 PDFs a month on the free plan.

Turn a lesson idea into a plan

Describe the lesson, the time you have and what the learners should leave able to do, then check the timings add up.

  • Prompt: Create an A4 lesson plan. Include the subject, grade and duration, three learning objectives, a staged table with a time and activity for each stage, the materials to prepare, and how the learning will be assessed. Use only the details I give.
  • Check that the timings add up to the lesson length, and that every objective is assessed.
  • The PDF is a plan, not a curriculum, a scheme of work, or a record of what was delivered.
Writing objectives that can be assessed

An objective is only useful if you can tell whether it was met:

  • Start with a verb a learner can do: name, explain, calculate, compare
  • Avoid 'understand', which cannot be observed directly
  • One objective per outcome, so the assessment can match it
How long does it take to build the lesson plan?

One short chat: describe what you need, check the live preview, download the PDF. You can keep changing it after that.

Can I bring a document I already have?

Yes. Attach up to four files at a time: images up to 5 MB, PDFs up to 10 MB, or text files up to 200 KB (.txt, .md, .csv, .json). For Word (.docx, not .doc), PDF, Markdown, HTML or LaTeX documents up to 10 MB each, choose ‘Import a document’ from the studio’s attachment menu. The agent rebuilds imports as editable blocks; original formatting may change.
