From announcement notes to a press release
Editors read releases for one thing: the news. The layout follows the standard shape so the story is findable.
Where they usually go wrong
It has to look like you do this for a living.
A Word file shows the seams: floating tables, mismatched type, spacing you fixed twice.
Template sites make you retype the job into their form.
Twelve fields before you see a page, and the result still looks like their template.
One change and the layout falls apart.
Move a line and the table, the headings, and the footer all need re-fixing.
- A headline that states the news, and a one-line subhead
- A dateline lead: city, then what happened and why now
- A quote with a name, title, and company
- An About section and a media contact, where journalists look
Release types it handles
The same skeleton carries most company news; the headline and lead change:
Funding and investment announcements
Product and feature launches
Partnerships and integrations
Openings, hires, and awards
How it works
Describe it
Type what you need in plain language: the client, the line items, the tone. Attach a file if you have one.
Refine by chatting
The agent builds the document with real tables and headings, and you change anything just by asking. A live A4 preview updates as it works.

Draft my press releaseYou type it, it sets it
Every part of the document is something you can ask for in a sentence. This is a real edit, made on the example above.
The same opening, boxed so the news reads first.
Questions, answered
Why is the quote the hard part?
Supply an approved quote, or ask the agent to draft wording from your notes. A draft is not a statement the speaker has made: get the named speaker's approval before attributing or publishing it.
What should a press release include?
The standard order: headline, dateline lead, supporting detail, an attributed quote, boilerplate about the company, and a media contact. The starting layout has a place for each, and you can add or drop sections by chatting.
Can it write the quote?
It can draft wording from supplied notes, but the named speaker must approve it before publication. A generated draft is not a verified statement or endorsement.
Is it free?
Free to start, no watermark, unlimited exports, around 20 PDFs a month on the free plan.
Does it distribute the release?
No. It produces the PDF; distribution through a wire service or your own list is a separate step. The document is yours to send anywhere.
Try the fictional funding announcement
The Ridgeline Analytics example includes a headline, dateline, supporting facts, quote, boilerplate and media contact. The company, funding and quote are fictional, not an endorsement or authorized statement. This is a deterministic recipe render, not a live AI trial. The demo also includes a bakery-opening example.
Write a release from verified announcement notes
Supply the company name, announcement date, location, confirmed news, approved quote and media contact. Distinguish an embargo date from the date an event happens. Leave unknown details marked for review rather than asking the agent to invent a spokesperson, customer or funding figure.
- Prompt: Draft a one-page A4 product-launch press release using only my notes. Use a factual headline, a dateline lead, supporting details, my approved quote, a short company description and my media contact. Mark missing facts as [confirm before publication]. Do not invent endorsements or distribute the release.
- Before sending: verify names, amounts, dates, contact details and permission to publish the quote. Remove review placeholders from the final copy.
- Keep a plain-text version for email alongside the PDF. PaintPDF creates the document; it does not pitch journalists or publish to a newswire.
How long does it take to build the press release?
One short chat: describe what you need, check the live preview, download the PDF. You can keep changing it after that.
Can I bring a document I already have?
Yes. Attach up to four files at a time: images up to 5 MB, PDFs up to 10 MB, or text files up to 200 KB (.txt, .md, .csv, .json). For Word (.docx, not .doc), PDF, Markdown, HTML or LaTeX documents up to 10 MB each, choose ‘Import a document’ from the studio’s attachment menu. The agent rebuilds imports as editable blocks; original formatting may change.
